BREEDERS’ CUP 2018

The brisk cool air, the steam lifting off each horse’s body, the beautiful smell of fall all must make it Breeders’ Cup week. Arguably the best week in racing, the mornings are electric, owners beaming with pride as they watch their horses work, and take in that feeling of excitement as we all prepare for November 2 and 3.

Midnight Bisou. Henley’s Joy. Skye Diamonds. Three names that should be noted when gearing up for Breeders Cup.

As I take on my new role with Bloom Racing as Communications Director, I am enjoying reflecting on all the exciting days that come ahead for our team. These three horses have given us the immense honor of not only attending the most prestigious two days of racing in the country, but also give us three legitimate contenders.

The first Breeders Cup I attended was in 2008, the first year Santa Anita hosted. Some of my best racing memories are from that year. Other great memories are from the 2011 Breeder’s Cup at Churchill Downs cheering on Majestic City, loving the loud cheers and feeling the exhilaration of the crowd.

The excitement and unknown of what to expect, and the pure devotion from those who love the sport combine into an overwhelming feeling on race day. Since then, I have attended five Breeders’ Cups and cannot wait to be back at Churchill Downs watching our impressive athletes take on the field.

This year has been packed with excitement for all our horses, leading with Midnight Bisou, who comes off her win in the G1 Cotillion in September. She is training beautifully and is ready for the $2 million Longines Distaff.

Skye Diamonds, will run in the $1 million Filly and Mare Sprint after her strong and triumphant win at Santa Anita in the G3 LA Woman Stakes. What an amazing ride she has taken us on since being claimed two years ago! Immediately following her race she will sell in the Fasig-Tipton Night of the Stars sale as Hip #134. Henley’s Joy has had an impressive first year in racing and will be running in the $1 million Juvenile Turf.

Bloom Racing and all our partners cannot wait for this weekend to watch these three amazing athletes take on the field. Continue to follow along this weekend on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
