Trainer Steve Asmussen

STEVE ASMUSSEN

 

Steve was born in South Dakota but moved to Texas at a young age. He grew up in a horse racing family, with his father a jockey and mother a trainer. He spent a few years as a jockey before becoming a trainer, winning his first race in 1986. He has been a successful trainer for 25+ years and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.

Achievements:

  • 1st Place 2007 Preakness – Curlin

  • 1st Place 2017 Breeders Cup Classic – Gun Runner

  • 1st Place 2007 Breeders Cup Classic – Curlin

  • 2016 Hall of Fame

  • Eclipse Award Outstanding Trainer – 2008 and 2009

  • 1st Place 2016 Belmont – Creator

  • 1st Place 2009 Preakness – Rachel Alexandra

  • Eclipse Award - Midnight Bisou - Older Dirt Female 2019

Tom Amoss

Tom Amoss fell in love with the sport as a young kid and hasn’t looked back since. He started in the racing industry by working as a stable hand for Hall of Fame trainer Jack van Berg. In 1987 he took out his training license and since has had G1 winners including Serengti Empress. 

Achievements: 

  • 3rd Place Preakness Stakes 2013 – Mylute 

  • 1st Place Kentucky Oaks 2019 – Serengeti Empress

Ignacio Correas

Trainer Ignacio Correas comes from a long line of family involved in horse racing. Ignacio came to the US from Argentina in 2002 where he was a successful trainer. Now based solely in the US he has gone on to win G1 races and have top runners such as Blue Prize. 

Achievements:

• 1st Place 2019 Breeders’ Cup Distaff – Blue Prize (ARG)

Peter Eurton 

MG1 winning trainer Peter Eurton has been involved in the horse racing industry and training since 1989. Born and raised in Southern California, Peter has been involved with many notable horses, including G1 winner Champagne Room. 

Achievements: 

  • 1st Place 2016 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies – Champagne Room 

  • 1st Place 2019 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile – Storm the Court

David Flores

David Flores was born into a family of horse racing; his father was a jockey and exercise rider in Southern California. As a jockey he had much success, with over 3000 career wins and multiple graded stakes wins. In 2017 he moved to Florida to focus on training horses and is located on the Florida circuit.

Doug O’Neill

Born and raised in Michigan, two-time Kentucky Derby winner Doug O’Neill first fell in love with horse racing during a trip to Santa Anita Park as young child. During his career he has been involved with multiple G1 horses including Nyquist, I’ll Have Another, and Goldencents. 

Achievements:

  • 1st Place Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint 2007 – Maryfield 

  • 1st Place Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile 2013 – Goldencents 

  • 1st Place Breeders’ Cup Juvenile 2015 – Nyquist 

  • 1st Place Kentucky Derby 2012 – I’ll Have Another 

  • 1st Place Kentucky Derby 2016 – Nyquist 

  • 1st Place Preakness Stakes 2012 – I’ll Have Another 

  • 1st Place Breeders’ Cup Sprint 2006 – Thor’s Echo
