Steve Asmussen

Steve was born in South Dakota but moved to Texas at a young age. He grew up in a horse racing family, with his father a jockey and mother a trainer. He spent a few years as a jockey before becoming a trainer, winning his first race in 1986. He has been a successful trainer for 25+ years and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.

Bob Baffert

Bob is a native of Arizona. He began his career training quarter horses and trained 4 champions before transitioning to thoroughbreds in the late 1980s. Baffert has a degree from the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program. He is 1 of only 2 trainers to win the triple crown twice (American Pharaoh 2015 and Justify 2018). Bob was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009.

Simon is a native of Great Britain, where he worked as an assistant trainer for his father. He moved to the United States and set up his stable in Southern California in 2009.

Brad Cox

Brad was born and raised in Louisville, KY, just a few blocks from Churchill Downs. He worked as an assistant trainer for Dallas Stewart and learned the training program pioneered by Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas before going out on his own in 2005.

Keith Desormeaux

Keith is a native of Louisiana. He started as an assistant trainer in Maryland in the 1980s before going out on his own in 1991. Keith had a brief stint in Texas at Lone Star Park before moving his operation to California in 1997.

Jeremiah Englehart

Jeremiah grew up in New York and is the son of trainer Chris Englehart. He worked as an assistant trainer for Ken McPeek before going out on his own in 2003.

Jerry Hollendorfer

Jerry grew up around the racetrack in Ohio. He moved to California in the late 1960s and worked on the backstretch as a hot walker and groom before becoming an assistant trainer and then going out on his own in 1979. Jerry has the most wins in the history of Northern California race horse trainers and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011.

Mike was born in Michigan into a horse racing family. He worked as an assistant trainer under Hall of Famer trainer D. Wayne Lukas for 10 years before going out on his own in 2003.

Bill Spawr

Bill began working at the racetrack in high school and became an assistant blacksmith at age 19. He would later open and manage a veterinary hospital and work as an assistant trainer before going out on his own in the late 1970s.
